I-Tri Triathlon

A non-profit organisation offering girls-only triathlon programs to empower them, building mental and physical strength. I-tri has fostered self-confidence and healthy habits in thousands via community-based training.

Goal

To help organize training through scheduling and communication between girls, supervisors, and trainers.

About i-tri

220 middle school girls annually participate in i-tri marathons. The organization empowers 36% Hispanic and 23% multiracial girls (ages 11-14) from 13 partner schools, teaching over 20 non-riders to bike 6 miles confidently in a single season.

User groups

Girl

Is a participant of the program, she wants to know the schedule of events.

Guardian

Parent or caretaker; they want to be notified if a child is absent and know the schedule to be on time.

Coach

Wants to inform participants about updates and know girls' special needs (allergies, etc).

User flow

Before designing the app, I created a user flow to map out the big picture.

Wireframe

After the user flow, I mapped the main elements and content for each screen.

Schedule and feedback

To keep everyone informed trainers use app schedule updates, to get feedback about trainings - surveys.

Chats and profiles

Some girls have chlorine sensitivity, limiting their pool time. Such special needs are noted in profiles for safe training.

Results

Mobile app enabled easier information exchange between trainers, girls, and their supervisors.

20% less time on admin tasks enabled coaches to include more girls per group.
